CERAMIC SCULPTURE

Slabs of clay molded from throw-away Styrofoam and plastic junk; I fold and twist these elements in a process akin to that exerted by the earth’s forces of compression, abrasion and stretching. Clay is an apt medium to work in this way because it literally is earth. The resulting puffed and slumping pieces are suggestive of terrestrial formations, celestial debris and biomorphic shapes.
